Uncuffed: Bulletproofing the Police Marriage

DAY 14 OF 40

# Safe Limits > It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, > Titus 2:12 The protective limits you both need to set to secure your 2-as-1 marriage will be particular to your own situation. But those protections must be discussed and very clearly identified. They are dividing lines that mark areas of access, protection, and risk. There can be no security in misunderstood limits. For example, if there has been a history or potential for infidelity, then those limits might include restricting/blocking access to the third party through social media, workplace, etc. An issue such as overspending and breaking the family bank might include guidelines such as budgeting, and both spouses approving expenditures over a certain dollar amount. The protections you establish to guard your 2:24 Unit will be as varied as your personalities, so take time to explore and set meaningful boundaries not to punish, but to protect. Will it be a piece of cake knowing there are limits to selfish desires? No, because Satan wants you to cross that forbidden line. He can’t shove you across it, but he will try to get inside your head to consume your thoughts with nothing else but what’s been set outside your safety zones. Don’t buy into it; he’s the father of lies. This is why we want you to understand there is security and joy within your own established guidelines. We set safety distances between ourselves and the public for our protection. Why not give our marriages the same security? ### CALL TO ACTION: In writing, list protective limits for each of you. They will vary depending on your circumstances. If it’s overspending, maybe the boundary is no purchases unless both agree up to a certain dollar amount. If it’s being gone from home to hang out with your partners, then designate those times or ensure they include your spouse. Don’t leave anything out because you’re afraid of missing out on something beyond the protective limits of your marriage.
