Back to the Basics 365

DAY 118 OF 365

Should a new Christian be baptized again, even if he was already baptized or sprinkled as a child? Is it Biblical to get baptized before getting saved?

Trusting Jesus as Lord and Savior is essential before someone gets baptized. Baptism is an act of obedience because of one’s already existing faith in Jesus, who died, was buried, and rose again for the sins of the world. It is a public declaration that the new believer already belongs to Jesus. Every single person who was baptized in the Bible was baptized after they believed in Jesus Christ. To be true to the example in the Bible, if someone is baptized before salvation, they would need to be baptized again, after their faith in Christ.
