Why should someone get baptized? Does baptism save us?
The Bible teaches that baptism is for anyone who is a believer that Jesus Christ died on the cross for their sins. Unlike what many religions teach, baptism does not save souls or wash away sins. It is not part of salvation, but it is one of the first ways you can demonstrate that you want to follow the Lord in your Christian life. It is simply an outward expression of the inward decision you made to believe in Jesus Christ.
To be baptized is simply to tell people in a public setting, “Hey! I am a follower of Jesus! I want to show you by identifying with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ!”
