A Spirit-Filled Moment: Encountering the Presence of God

DAY 4 OF 7

God’s Presence Through History

From the burning bush to the tabernacle to the temple, God’s presence marked Israel’s identity. Moses pleaded, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here.” Without God’s presence, they were just another people.

Throughout the Old Testament, God’s presence was tangible yet limited, resting on specific places or people. But the prophets spoke of a coming day when His Spirit would dwell in hearts, not just in holy places (Jeremiah 31:33; Ezekiel 36:26-27).

In Christ, that promise is fulfilled. The Spirit now dwells in every believer and in the church collectively we are His temple (Ephesians 2:21-22). The presence once confined to the Holy of Holies now fills ordinary lives with extraordinary power.

Reflection Question:
How does knowing you are a temple of the Holy Spirit change how you see yourself and the church?

About this Plan

A Spirit-Filled Moment: Encountering the Presence of God

The single command Jesus gave his followers before igniting his movement was “Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift my Father promised...” (Acts 1:4). He was telling them to wait and then move with the Spirit. For a movement to accomplish God's mission, it must be guided by the Spirit of God. We want to challenge every leader at Exponential with the big idea of Spirit-filled: Moving With The Spirit.
