Hope while we wait
We’re in a society where we can get everything so quickly and easily, so no-one likes to wait for anything. But in this time in between Jesus and heaven, we’re waiting for lots of things – waiting for sickness and suffering to end, waiting for justice, waiting for answered prayers, waiting to be rid of the sin that so easily entangles us. It’s easy to lose heart while we’re waiting, to get frustrated with others, with our situation and with our sin.
Alexandra Hoover, author of Without Wavering, said, ‘When what you hoped for hasn’t happened. When what you prayed for still hasn’t come. It’s okay to feel the ache. Faith doesn’t deny disappointment. It brings it into the presence of God.’ What an encouragement that we have God with us while we wait! He is near to the broken-hearted. He brings comfort and hope.
As Psalm 130:7 (TPT) says ‘...keep hoping, keep trusting and keep waiting on the Lord... He himself will redeem you; he will ransom you from the cruel slavery of your sins!’
He is not a God who is unable or unwilling to act – He proved that when He sent Jesus to save us. We can find hope in Him while we wait.

About this Plan

“This Christmas season let’s remember that God’s promises are not like ours – fragile and sometimes forgotten – but are firm, fulfilled and forever. In every wrapped gift, flickering Christmas tree light and sung carol, may we see a reflection of the ultimate gift: Jesus, the righteous branch – our everlasting hope.” (The Promise of a Righteous Branch – Robbie Parkin)
