Day 2 — Equipping: Learning to Share Your Story

Compassion moves our hearts—but equipping moves our hands. We can change the world with hearts fueled by love for others, without it, we stay inside the church.

God never meant for evangelism to be complicated. He simply asks us to share the story of what He's done in our lives. Every believer has a testimony—your story of how Jesus found you and what He's done since.

You don't need a microphone, a pulpit, or a script. Just a heart that says, "Lord, use me."

Paul reminded us that God gave leaders "to equip His people for works of service." (Ephesians 4:12) That means you are part of God's plan to reach others. You already have everything you need—the Spirit of God, the story of His grace, and the willingness to obey. This is why we produced a faith-sharing tool called the One Minute Witness. Many are willing to listen if we will just share our story!

When you share your faith story, it's not about convincing others—it's about revealing God's kindness. Take a few moments today to think about how Jesus changed your life and write it down. Write down your story and share it with someone in the following order;

1. Ask Permission— Before sharing your story, ask them if you can share a story from your life.

2. Before Christ— Describe your life Before Christ in just a few sentences. "There was a time in my life when…"

3. Turning Point— What was the Turning Point in your life? "And then one day…." Or "When I realized Jesus died for my sins and rose again, I invited him to…"

4. After Decision— Describe the positive benefits, Jesus has made in your life. "Since I've met Jesus, I…."

5. Lastly, describe what your life would look like without Christ. "If I had never met Jesus, I…"

If you will write down your story in this way you will feel equipped to share it with compassion and confidence!

Reflection: Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind what Jesus has done for you—and give you courage to share it with someone this week.
