5 Ways Sacrifice Integrates Faith and Work

DAY 3 OF 5

Sacrifice in The Workplace: Knowing What You Believe by Faith

Have you ever had hope for something unseen? That is what faith in God is all about: having confidence in things hoped for but have not yet come to pass.

Sacrifice in the workplace is more than forfeiting profits or putting in long hours. It’s about remaining faithful to God’s principles, even when compromise would seem easier or more profitable. In a world that often rewards shortcuts, standing firm in your convictions can feel costly.

Think of Abraham in Hebrews 11—he stepped out into the unknown, trusting God’s promise without seeing the full picture. Likewise, every decision you make in faith—choosing honesty over manipulation, valuing people over profit—becomes a statement that you believe God’s ways are best.

God uses these moments of sacrifice to shape your character, deepen your dependence on Him, and make your work a testimony of His kingdom values.

So what steps can you take? Here are just a few:

  1. Evaluate Your Decisions: Identify one area in your work where you’re tempted to compromise for convenience or gain. Ask the Holy Spirit to show you a better, faith-driven path.
  2. Choose Eternal Values: Consider a recent business decision—did it reflect trust in God or reliance on fear or pressure?
  3. Take a Step of Faith: This week, act on a decision that may not yield immediate results but honors God and others.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You for entrusting me with the work of my hands. Help me to run my business—or any responsibility You’ve given me—with faith and integrity. Strengthen me to choose Your way, even when the cost feels high. Teach me to value eternal things over temporary gain and to trust that You will provide for every need. Use my choices as a witness to Your goodness. Amen
