In the Fast Lane: Resetნიმუში

Rest and Receive
Psalm 46:10
New International Version - UK
10 He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God…'
Today we are going to focus on Rest and Receive.
The Psalmist in the verse above, encourages us to ‘Be Still’. The core meaning of this is: to relax, let go, cease striving, drop the hands, loosen the grip.
This isn’t actually just about sitting quietly in meditation, it’s a command to stop fighting, cease frantic activity and let go of control.
Basically God is saying to us ‘Relax - I’ve got this’.
If you are a control freak like me, surrender can be a scary thing.
But as Zechariah 4:6 tells us…’Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit says the Lord Almighty’.
Question: In what areas of my life do I need to let go and let God?
The next key word in this verse is ‘know’! This word is not just about an intellectual understanding, but rather a knowing through experience. It is a call to trust, not just believe.
And then finally, ‘I am God’…The one true God, sovereign and Mighty.
We can be confident in the knowledge that in reality we are not in control - God is!
Stop fighting, stop fearing, confident that we can RECEIVE as we REST in the knowledge that God is our confidence and protection no matter what comes our way.
