The Mandate to Multiply.

DAY 1 OF 3

The Call to Multiply

Genesis 1:28 - "Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (NKJV)

Multiplication is part of the first series of blessings that God spoke over humanity. This is important because it shows us God’s original intent over man right from the beginning. When he created man, he put in him the ability to multiply. This is the blessing that rests on every man and woman who is awakened to God’s original plan. Every blessing from God comes with a set of instructions and responsibilities tied to it. In this study, we will look at the blessing of multiplication and the instruction and responsibility that come with it.

The Blessing of Multiplication.

“He blessed them and said…” — with these words, we witness the very first blessing spoken over humanity: the blessing of multiplication. Blessings are often released through words and bestowed by God or one in authority. From the very beginning, God was intentional—He placed in man the divine capacity to increase and multiply. Yet, we often overlook this truth, comparing what we have with others and failing to see that even the smallest blessing from God carries within it the seed of growth.

When Jesus faced a hungry crowd, He asked the disciples, “What do you have?” They found a boy with five loaves and two fish. It seemed insignificant, but when placed in Jesus’ hands, He gave thanks, blessed it, and it multiplied—feeding thousands with leftovers to spare. The principle remains the same today: multiplication begins with what’s in your hands. What may seem too little in your eyes can become more than enough when surrendered to God.

Scriptural Reference

  • Matthew 14:16-19

But Jesus said to them, “They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.” And they said to Him, “We have here only five loaves and two fish.” He said, “Bring them here to Me.” Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. (NKJV)

  • Genesis 1:28

Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” (NKJV)

  • Genesis 29:17

"blessing I will bless you, and multiplying I will multiply your descendants as the stars of the heaven and as the sand which is on the seashore; and your descendants shall possess the gate of their enemies." (NKJV)

  • Jeremiah 30:19

Then out of them shall proceed thanksgiving, and the voice of those who make merry; I will multiply them, and they shall not diminish; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small. (NKJV)

About this Plan

The Mandate to Multiply.

The Multiply Plan is a three-day devotional exploring God’s original intent for humanity—to be fruitful and multiply (Genesis 1:28). It unveils multiplication as a blessing, an instruction, and a responsibility. As a blessing, it reminds us that what seems small can become abundant in God’s hands. An instruction, it teaches that every blessing carries divine direction for its fulfillment. A responsibility, it challenges us to faithfully steward what God entrusts to us through consistency and obedience. This guide calls believers to align with God’s blueprint—to grow, multiply, and reflect His glory in every sphere of life.
