Faith Over Feelings

DAY 5 OF 6

It is one thing to hear God’s Word. And another to believe Him.

Mary did both! As a teenage girl, Mary was still figuring out who she was and what she believed about the world when she was told by an angel that she would carry the Son of God. It was outrageous. It went against logic, biology, social norms—everything! And yet, Mary believed. Not because it was easy. Not because she had a group of people cheering her on. But because she trusted the One who spoke!

And she did it alone.

That is the part I cannot stop thinking about. She did not have confirmation from her friends. No one was there to help her process it in a group chat. She did not get a sign-up sheet or a safety net. Just a message from God—and the choice to believe or not. And she chose belief!

Believing God will always go against what the world tells us makes sense. The world tells us that our worth is based on our appearance, our popularity, and our performance. But God says our value comes from who we are in Him. The world says success is being noticed, being liked, being followed. But God says success is obedience! The world says beauty is everything. But God says, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” (Proverbs 31:30)

If we really believed God’s Word, our lives would look radically different. We would not be so obsessed with approval or appearance. We would not chase love from people who do not know how to love us well. We would not shrink ourselves out of fear or insecurity. We would live like daughters of a faithful Father who always keeps His word!

Mary’s belief did not just impact her—it changed the world. And that is the power of faith! When we take God at His Word and act on what He has spoken, we open the door to His blessing. Not always in the way we expect, but always in the way we need.

You do not have to have it all figured out. You just need a willing heart. Let it be said of you: “Blessed is she who believed that what the Lord had spoken to her would be fulfilled.”

Belief is not passive. It moves us! It changes us! And it invites us to live with boldness, even when we are scared or standing alone.

Reflection Question: What is something God has spoken over your life that you have hesitated to believe—and what would it look like to trust Him fully with it today?

About this Plan

Faith Over Feelings

What does it really mean to believe God—not just know about Him? In this 6-day devotional, Amy Rienow invites young women to move beyond passive faith and live with confidence in their identity as daughters of God. Through biblical truth and personal stories, this study calls you to stop chasing approval, silence fear, and walk in the abundant life Jesus offers. It’s time to trade feelings for faith, and insecurity for truth. Stop agreeing with truth in theory—and start living like it changes everything.
