Day 2 | Thirst
Thirst is a powerful indicator of what is going on internally. It is like the dashboard of your soul lighting up to tell you that something is missing. King David wrote, “My soul thirsts for you” in Psalm 63; he then described his soul as a “dry and weary land” to explain his desperation for God. Have you felt this kind of thirst for a nearness to God? May our souls thirst in the way David longed for the presence of God. Jesus said about himself that “The water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life” (John 6:35). We can drink from many types of “wells” in life that may provide temporary satisfaction, but when we drink from them, we will always be thirsty again. Jesus has a well that will quench our thirst eternally in him.
Prayer: Jesus, I want my soul to live refreshed in you. Like David, there are days that I feel dry and weary from life. I am asking you to refresh my soul with your living streams. Amen.
