OVERCOME Lust WITH TRUST

DAY 2 OF 5

TUESDAY: FLEE FROM LUST

Moment of Praise Worship

Read the Word:

  • 2 Timothy 2:21-22 (KJV) – If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work. Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

CONFESSIONS

  • Psalm 119:33 & 40 (NLT)
  • 1 Peter 2:11 (NKJV)
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:19-22 (NKJV)

The command to flee from lust shows us that avoidance is sometimes the wisest spiritual weapon. We are not called to entertain temptation, but to run from it and pursue holiness. To “purge ourselves” means actively removing habits, influences, and environments that stir up wrong desires. The Word hidden in our hearts, as the Psalmist says, becomes our defense — guarding our steps and renewing our desires daily.

Fleeing lust is not simply running away, but running toward righteousness. When we focus on what is holy, our appetites for sin lose their grip. The Holy Spirit empowers us not only to escape temptation but also to love purity, peace, and fellowship with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Victory comes when we replace lust with love, and fear with faith.

PRAYER FOCUS

Holy Spirit, I surrender my desires to You today. Purify my heart and set my eyes on righteousness. I choose to flee from every form of lust and run after love, peace, and holiness. Fill me with Your power to say “no” when temptation comes, and strengthen me to pursue the things that bring honor to Christ. Let my heart delight in Your Word, and may I walk with a clean conscience and a pure spirit all my days. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
