Signal Fire - 1 Thessaloniansნიმუში

Paul shifts the focus here: “the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” In other words—we won’t be able to predict it, schedule it, or control it. And that’s kind of the point. The world may be caught off guard, but those who belong to Jesus aren’t in the dark. Paul says, “you are all children of the light and children of the day.” That changes how we live right now. We don’t sit around guessing the timing—we live ready, with eyes wide open, hearts awake, and hope alive.
The contrast Paul makes is powerful. Some stumble in the dark, unaware and unprepared. But not us—we belong to the light. That means our choices, our outlook, even our hope are marked by clarity and purpose. We live like people who know the end of the story. And because of that, we don’t have to be driven by fear of what’s coming—we’re anchored in who is coming.
Live like a child of the light this week. Stay awake to what God is doing around you. Let your life reflect the hope you’ve been given, even in ordinary moments.
- Where in your life are you tempted to drift into “darkness”—living unaware of God’s presence or distracted by lesser things?
- What does it look like for you, personally, to live “awake” and alert in your faith?
- Who in your life needs to see the light of Christ shining through your words and actions this week?

About this Plan

"Signal Fire" is a devotional through 1 Thessalonians, showing how our lives are meant to shine as indicators of God’s love. Like a fire seen from a distance, faith that is lived out brings direction, warmth, and hope. Paul celebrates the Thessalonians because their faith, love, and endurance became a signal fire to others, spreading well beyond their city. This devotional invites us to tend the flame God has placed in us, so our everyday lives point people to Jesus and burn brightly with the hope of His return.
