Unleashed for Kingdom Purpose

DAY 3 OF 3

Unleased to Walk in Kingdom Provision

Calling on God when you need a bailout but forgetting Him after you’ve been bailed out seems to be a regular occurrence for many believers today. Believers are to seek first His kingdom, prioritize His perspective, and make His will their primary goal. God is to be recognized as our Lord, Father, Teacher, and Source. When we look to God as our Source, we look to Him as the supplier of all we have had, all we have, and all we will have. We also look to Him as the owner of all. God wants us to get one thing straight: He made it all. He owns it all. Everything in creation belongs to Him. If and when you do not start there philosophically, you seek to usurp God’s role in your life.

As the owner, God does allow us to manage His resources. We call this stewardship. We are called and equipped to steward the time, talents, and treasures God places within our sphere of responsibility. Understanding that God is your Source frees your emotions so you do not have to worry about whether your resources will be stocked or in supply, because you know that God supplies your every need. When you give back to the One who has given to you, you are cultivating a heart of gratitude, not a heart of entitlement or pride. Knowing that all things are a gift from God, we will hold what we have in our hands more loosely. We honor what we have in our hearts more gratefully.

You don’t need to worry. God supplies “all your needs” when you make His purpose your purpose (see Philippians 4:19). Stewarding your resources well in light of recognizing God as your Source is a kingdom issue. It involves exercising the dominion God has placed in your jurisdiction of personal and corporate responsibility. As you learn how best to see God as your Source and to rely on Him, you’ll discover the unleashing of His provision to you. God always supplies that which He calls you to do. The problems come when you look outside of God to supply the things He has put on your heart to do. There must exist a kingdom mindset for operating from the realm of divine rule. Your mentality must inform your decisions in a way that puts God’s perspective first.

God doesn’t oppose your prospering or developing your resources. He just wants to be sure you remember Him when you do. He wants you to remember that He can shut it all down in a heartbeat should you forget who your true Source is. When you honor Him in the lean times and in the times of blessing, He honors you with His covering and His provisional care. That provision may come through unexpected ways, but you can count on God to meet your needs when you steward all that He has given you with the intention and action of honoring Him (see Proverbs 3:9-10). Because God is our ultimate Source in all things, we would be wise to show gratitude, honor, and allegiance to Him.

How often do you consider that what you give to God actually originated from God?

What time, talents, and treasures has God placed within your sphere of responsibility? What is your attitude toward that responsibility?

How can you honor God in the lean times and in times of blessing?

Prayer

Lord, everything that I have belongs to You. You are the Source of all that I need. Help me to steward what You have provided well with a heart of gratitude, free from worry. Unleash my time, talents and treasures for Your glory and the good of those You want to impact through me. Amen.

About this Plan

Unleashed for Kingdom Purpose

This reading plan includes three daily devotions based on Tony Evans’ book Unleashed: Releasing God’s Glorious Kingdom in and through You. This study will explore what is needed in our lives to unleash the power of God in our lives to bring His kingdom to this world. We will look into what it means to unleash God’s kingdom purpose in our lives, what it means to stand on the truth that is Jesus and His Word, and how God provides us with all that we need to accomplish His kingdom agenda.
