Unleashed to Stand in Kingdom Truth

From Genesis to Revelation we read about God’s rule and authority, His kingdom. Located within this jurisdiction are His governance and guidelines. We often refer to this as truth. They are the expectations in which we are to operate. God’s guidelines are non-negotiable. Deviating from His rule produces problems. That’s why God’s goal for His kingdom people is for us to be people of the truth. We are not to be people of our truth or even a person of my truth. We are to be people of the truth.

In today’s culture, nobody agrees on truth. Nobody adheres to a set standard by which reality is to be measured. People create thought constructs that rest in the subjective and malleable personal experiences of humanity, both individually and collectively. We are awash today in opinions purported to be truth. Chaos is the natural result of confusion regarding truth—regarding social issues, race, class, culture, morality, spirituality and gender. Yet, when it comes down to it, we all intuitively understand the need for truth.

Unleashing God’s kingdom in your life and through your life to impact others cannot be done apart from an awareness of and an abiding with truth. That’s why determining truth based on God’s Word is so important.

The primary principle in understanding truth begins with knowing that where Jesus rules and reigns is not of this world. It is in the world, but it is not of this world. Thus, since Jesus is “the truth” (see John 14:6), any discussion of truth cannot start from this realm we know as earth. The kingdom on high must inform the life here. Anytime we try to establish a truth based on the realities of our existence, we are unable to come to the whole truth. Truth is defined as the absolute standard by which reality is measured. Truth is God’s view on any subject. The reason this is so is because God alone is perfect.

Whenever you disagree with God, you’re wrong. We have great audacity to try to tell God the truth by which this world operates or should operate. God alone knows the truth. If we were wise, we would make pursuing God our highest goal. Truth is revealed through an intimate and abiding relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ.

The importance of truth in unleashing God’s kingdom benefits in your life is the fact that truth goes deeper than facts. Facts are important, but we must be careful to avoid drawing conclusions or assumptions based on facts alone. Jesus is truth. He speaks to us through His Word, which is also perfect truth. All subjects are to be viewed and analyzed and all conclusions drawn based on Jesus Christ and His Word. Truth does not start, continue or end anywhere else. The Bible is the voice of God in print. Yet so few people look to Jesus and His inerrant Word to reveal truth.

You can rely on God’s Word. You can count on it. Prioritizing the discovery, understanding, and application of truth has to be a way of life for every follower of Jesus Christ. Now, it might not be easy. It might not be popular. But it will unleash the rule of Christ in your soul so much that even when you take a hit for standing on the truth of God’s Word, you will still stand strong.

Prayer

Lord, You are truth. Your guidelines for serving You are non-negotiable. Unleash Your kingdom in and through my life as I abide in You and immerse myself in Your Word of truth. Confront me with any lies or misconceptions that I may have from the influence of the world. Unleash the rule of Christ in my soul so that I can stand for You no matter what. Amen.
