Powerhouse: Your Toolkit for a Supernatural Lifeნიმუში

The Gifts of the Spirit
Let’s consider the following question. What is the primary difference between these different types of tools: a screwdriver and an electric drill, a hammer and nail gun, a hand saw or a cordless circular saw? They all essentially accomplish the same function and achieve the same goal. The main difference is that electric drills, nail guns and cordless circular saws all have access to power (electric or pneumatic). These tools make the job easier; they are more efficient and can do things that we may not be able to do in our own strength alone. When we are baptised in the Holy Spirit, we also gain access to God’s range of power tools that help us accomplish our supernatural mission. They go beyond our natural gifts and abilities. These are known as the Gifts of the Holy Spirit and are outlined in three different places in the New Testament; although no single passage lists them all. They exist to extend God’s kingdom in the world, build up the body of Christ and strengthen us in our daily lives.
Over the next few days we will highlight a small sample of these gifts and look at how we can activate them in our lives.
Reflection Questions:
- Looking at the different descriptions of the gifts, are there any that you have already received?
- How do you plan on honing that gift and using it to fulfill God’s supernatural mission in your life today?
