DAY 20 OF 30

Redemption Through Christ

The Death of Death

The resurrection of Jesus is the ultimate triumph of hope over despair. The same Jesus who suffered, bled, and died on the cross rose with unstoppable power, defeating sin and death once and for all. Through His resurrection, we catch a glimpse of a reality beyond this world: eternal life, reunion with loved ones, and the assurance that life with God continues beyond this life. The broken fellowship from Eden is restored. Death is no longer the final word, and the resurrection invites us to live courageously today, knowing that grief, suffering, and injustice do not have the last say.

Lives transformed by faith reflect this hope. Joni Eareckson Tada’s story stands as a living testament. Paralysed as a teenager from a diving accident, she faced immense physical and emotional challenges. Her future, by human standards, seemed limited, yet she anchored her life in Christ. From her limitations, she built a ministry that inspires countless people through her writing, advocacy, and unwavering faith. Her life demonstrates that resurrection power is not only about life after death, but also about how God’s hope can flourish amidst suffering, transforming despair into purpose.

I have felt this hope intimately in my own life. We were trusting God with our family, our work, and our children when a season of unimaginable sorrow came upon us. Our son became seriously ill and passed away. The days that followed were heavy with silence, questions, and the ache of what might have been.

Even in that heartbreak, the truth of Jesus’ resurrection steadied my heart. The separation was temporary. I could cling to the hope of seeing our son again in the presence of our Maker. God also invited us to live fully in the life He had given. He led us to explore new countries and cities, to marvel at oceans, mountains, and the intricate beauty of His creation. Walking along sunlit streets, listening to unfamiliar languages, and noticing His fingerprints in creation reminded us that life, even in sorrow, is rich with His presence.

Jesus’ resurrection, Joni Eareckson Tada’s example, and the hope we experience remind us that death does not have the final word. Eternal life restores fellowship with God and reunites us with those who trust Him. Through Christ, hope triumphs. Grief is temporary. Life can be lived with courage, joy, and purpose even in the midst of sorrow. Resurrection hope shapes how we live now, anchored in God’s promises, as we walk forward with trust, choosing life over despair, and embracing the wonders He has placed around us.

Reflection Question:

What hope can you find in new beginnings, eternal life, and the promise of restored relationships?

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the victory of the resurrection. Help me to live with hope, choosing life over despair, trusting that death is only a temporary pause. Teach me to embrace each day fully, holding onto the promise of eternal life, restored relationships, and the joy of Your presence.
