One Week in Prayer 10-Day Devotional on Building a Consistent Habit of Daily Prayer

DAY 3 OF 10

Tuesday: Our Spiritual Heads, the Church, and Our Groups

On Tuesdays, I focus my prayers on the leaders of the Church, the body of Christ, and the smaller groups that form its heartbeat.

Why Pray for the Head of the Church?
Leading a global church comes with heavy responsibility—administrative, spiritual, and emotional. Decisions affect millions of believers, and even a single statement can impact countless lives. Rather than criticize, I choose to pray for divine wisdom, protection, and faithful helpers for our leaders. I pray they finish well, surrounded by God’s presence and guided by the Holy Spirit.

Why Pray for My Pastor?
When a new pastor took over my local parish, we didn’t see eye-to-eye. But God led me to start praying for him—his family, ministry, and challenges, and over time, my heart softened. Prayer built love where friction once stood. I learned a powerful truth: the more you pray for someone, the more you love them.

Why Pray for the Church?
One night, I dreamt of a church filled with impurity. God showed me that revival and cleansing are urgent needs. Jesus is returning for a spotless bride. The Church must shine as a light to the world, a place of transformation and hope. I pray for a revival of holiness, unity, and love among believers.

Why Pray for My Ministry Group?
Church groups—youth, men’s, women’s, prayer, welfare—are the backbone of ministry. My time with the teens department taught me the importance of building strong foundations in young people’s lives and I saw firsthand how prayer sustains vision. Indeed, persistent prayer can bring about real transformation.

I pray for these groups to be filled with wisdom, creativity, and divine provision. I pray for boldness, unity, and resources to fulfill their God-given mandates.

Prayer:
Father, I lift up the leaders of the Church—fill them with humility, wisdom, and courage. Let their words carry Your power and draw many to Christ. Bless their families and surround them with faithful helpers.

I pray for my pastor to be a true shepherd, guiding and protecting the flock. Give him strength, boldness, and peace.

Lord, let Your fire fall on the Church. Purge us from sin, renew our passion, and make us ready for Your return. Bless every ministry group with vision, unity, and provision. May we stand firm, faithful, and fruitful until the end. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
