Holy, Healthy, Whole: Growing Fruits of the Spirit for Weight Loss and Wellnessნიმუში

Your Mission
And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’ Matthew 25:40 (NIV)
During your weight loss journey, it’s easy to become self-focused.
Focusing inward isn’t all bad. Maybe you’ve sacrificed so much of yourself in giving to others over the years, and now it’s time to care for yourself.
Still, one of the great ironies of the Christian life is that the more we give, the more we receive. This truth also applies to your weight loss efforts.
This may be a new concept, but consider incorporating a mission or service aspect into your weight loss approach.
Here are some ideas of mission projects women who follow The Holy Mess have done:
- Donate a pound of food to a local food bank for every pound of weight you lose or need to lose. (Last year, I donated 125 pounds of food to a local food bank in honor of my 125-pound weight loss. It was incredibly meaningful.)
- Write a thank-you note to someone who has been a spiritual or fitness mentor in your life.
- Walk or run and dedicate each mile or block to someone in your life by praying for them as you go.
- Support someone else along their weight loss journey.
By showing kindness to someone else, you’ll be serving God and His kingdom in a meaningful way.
Reflection: How will you add a mission or service aspect to your weight loss process?
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the overflow of blessings you’ve poured into my life. Help me find ways to serve others during my weight loss journey. Guide me in sharing your love with those around me in specific ways. Thank you, Father, for all you have done for me, especially sending Jesus to be my Savior. Amen.
