Holy, Healthy, Whole: Growing Fruits of the Spirit for Weight Loss and Wellnessნიმუში

Fruit that Lasts
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit – fruit that will last – and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. John 15:16 (NIV)
I’m an expert at weight loss.
Maybe you are, too.
You see, I’ve lost weight many times. The trouble is, for so many years, it kept finding me again.
I could lose weight. If someone could be considered an expert on weight loss (given all the times it has been attempted), that would be me. Keeping the weight off was the problem.
Before I lost weight the final time, I gained and lost hundreds of pounds over the years. I tried various diets, systems, and programs. I could lose weight for a while, sometimes as much as 40-50 pounds, but I couldn’t keep it off for the long term.
The weight loss didn’t last.
During the next 30 days, you’ll be learning about how to develop the fruits of the Spirit that lead to lasting weight loss. You don’t just want to lose weight. You want it to last.
As someone who has maintained a 100-pound weight loss for over twenty years, I can assure you that your dedication and time with the Lord will be worth it.
Reflection: Have you lost weight in the past only to re-gain it? Why do you think that is?
Prayer: Lord, help me develop fruits of faith – fruits that last. I cannot do it by my own power, but I can cultivate fruits that lead to lasting weight loss when I trust You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
