Be Your Best to Give Your Best!

DAY 6 OF 30

Day 6 — Your Dream Is Not Just For You

When God plants a dream or desire in our hearts, He doesn’t just do it for personal fulfillment, rather, they are vehicles of influence generated to impact, bless, and serve others. For this reason, a God-given dream is never just about the life of the one who receives it; it carries within itself the potential to transform the lives of others too.

The story of Joseph is one of the clearest examples of this truth in Scripture. As a young man, Joseph received two prophetic dreams from God (Genesis 37:5–11): in the first, his brothers’ sheaves of grain bowed down to him; in the second, the sun, the moon, and eleven stars bowed before him. These were powerful images that spoke of authority and influence, but at first, Joseph didn’t understand their true meaning. On the surface, they seemed like dreams of personal greatness, but in reality, they were fragments of a much greater design that only God knew.

After having these dreams, he was led down a path far from linear. He was sold as a slave by his brothers (Genesis 37:28), a servant in Potiphar’s house (Genesis 39:1–4), and was falsely accused and imprisoned (Genesis 39:20). However, through it all, God was at work - molding, shaping, and preparing Joseph for the fulfillment of the plan God had already established through the original dreams.

When the famine came, Pharaoh raised Joseph to the role of governor of Egypt (Genesis 41:39–41). It was then that the vision began to take tangible form. Joseph was used by God to save an entire nation and his own family—the very ones who had betrayed him. Only at the end, looking back, did Joseph fully understand the magnitude of what he had lived through. He told his brothers: “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives” (Genesis 50:20, NIV).

Joseph’s story reminds us that the dreams God places in our hearts are never just for us: they are meant to meet real needs, encourage others, and advance His Kingdom.

Perhaps the dream God has planted in your heart is the answer to someone else’s prayer that will create an eternal impact in their life?

Take a moment to think about a person in your life that could benefit from your courage to pursue the vision God has entrusted within you? How could your obedience inspire or serve those around you?

Prayer: Lord, thank You that the dreams You have placed in my heart, aligned with Your will, are instruments of blessing and edification in Your hands. Give me the courage to embrace them fully, even when the path feels long or uncertain. May my obedience become a blessing to others, and may my “yes” bring life, hope, and salvation to those You want to reach through me. Amen.
