DAY 6 OF 11

Jesus Gives Abundantly

I think Jesus would have liked the phrase, “Go big or go home!” Again and again in the Gospels, we see Jesus' overflowing generosity on display. He definitely went BIG!

  • He didn’t just heal one sick person; He healed crowds.
  • He didn’t just feed a few hungry people; He fed thousands with bread and fish—and there were baskets of leftovers.
  • He didn’t just forgive some sins; He forgave all sins for those who trust in Him.

In John 10:10, Jesus contrasts Himself with the thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. While the thief takes away, Jesus says, “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (NIV). This means a life that overflows with meaning, peace, and joy that the world can’t take away.

In John 6:35, Jesus declares, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty” (NIV). Bread in the ancient world represented daily sustenance—the basic essentials for survival. But Jesus offers more than survival. He offers abundance: a life where spiritual hunger and thirst are not just met but overflowing in Him.

Paul reminds us in Ephesians 3:20 that God “is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine” (NIV). That’s the kind of God we serve! He doesn’t stop at “just enough.” Instead, He delights in pouring out blessings that overflow into every part of our lives.

But here’s the critical truth: an abundant life doesn’t always mean an abundance of money, possessions, or status. Sometimes abundance looks like peace in the midst of chaos, strength in weakness, or joy even in suffering. True abundance is not measured in stuff; it’s measured in the richness of knowing Christ.

When you think about your own life, you can probably point to places where God has given you far more than you deserved or expected. Because, after all, He went BIG and didn’t go home—for you!

Challenge:
Take five minutes today to list the ways Jesus has given to you abundantly: relationships, opportunities, forgiveness, peace, joy, or even material blessings. Then, thank Him specifically for one, and ask Him to help you live out of that abundance instead of a mindset of scarcity.
