Your Marriage Belongs To God.

What you choose to do in private and in public—every aspect belongs to God. 3 John 1:2 AMPC declares, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and [that your body] may keep well, even as [I know] your soul keeps well and prospers.” Your body belongs to God. When you’re married, your body is in covenant with your spouse. You both are one flesh. You both are submitted to each other and to Christ. You both belong to Christ.

Christ is Lord—and your spouse is not God. Your marriage, your covenant before God, is a reflection of God’s Love in the Earth. We are to worship God and not our marriage. We are to worship God and not our spouse. We are to worship Christ and not our family. We are to worship God and surrender to His Way of doing things. Surrender your marriage over to Christ and watch God do miraculous things through you.

Let God’s Way of doing things satisfy you. Let His Love be embedded throughout your marriage. Let His Love lead your marriage. Let His Love be reflected through you and your spouse. James 4:8 KJV declares, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.” God will draw close to you as you draw close to Him. Choose to crave His Word. Choose to digest His Word daily.

The second part of James 4:8 KJV declares, “Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands.” According to Strong’s Concordance, the Greek word for Cleanse is katharizō (G2511), which means “To make clean, cleanse from physical stains and dirt, to remove by cleansing; in a moral sense, to free from the defilement of sin and faults, to purify from wickedness, to free from the guilt of sin, to purify, to consecrate by cleansing or purifying, to consecrate, dedicate, or to pronounce clean in a Levitical sense.”

When you surrender your marriage to God, He pronounces your marriage as clean. God cleanses your covenant when you surrender to Him. When you are in Christ, your marriage belongs to Him. You have the choice to either cleanse or defile your marriage. When you wash your marriage with the Word of God, you’re choosing to cleanse it. When you choose to entangle in the lusts of the world and flesh, you defile it.

It’s simple, the choice is up to you. Broken covenants defile the institution of marriage. Kept covenants keep marriages clean. You choose. Draw near to God and let Christ lead your marriage.
