EquipHer Vol. 30: "Weaknesses Are Fertile Ground for Growth"

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5 – Leadership is Generational

Over the past few days, we have learned that recognizing our areas of weakness does not make us less of a leader—it makes us more intentional and aligned with God’s vision for our lives and work.

Today, we want to look beyond the present, and build toward leaving a lasting legacy —one that will endure through generations.

When Paul writes to his disciple Timothy, he is not just encouraging him to be a good leader for the present time, he is challenging him to think long-term: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others” (2 Timothy 2:2, NASB).

To honor the vision God has entrusted to us, we need mentors who have gone before us, and people we are willing to raise up after us. A mentor who offers guidance that is in alignment with our Christian values, will offer more than knowledge—they will provide a divine perspective. They will share their wisdom and experiences to help you see beyond today’s hurdles. They will remind you of God’s promises when all you see is the obstacle right in front of you. Scripture is full of relationships like these: Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, Jesus and His disciples.

In every case, the investment of one leader into the growth of another was not only a wise decision, it was an act of obedience toward what God had entrusted to them. The passing of the baton was an act of faithfulness to something greater than a personal calling. The stories of Moses, Elijah, Paul, and Jesus Himself teach us this truth: what God entrusts to one person is never meant to end with them.

God’s purpose is generational. And while He calls each of us individually, His design is never individualistic.

You are not meant to build alone. Even if you serve in a leadership role, that does not mean you do not need a guide or counselor to support you along the way. If you do not currently have someone like this in your life, ask God to reveal a person—someone who shares your Christian values and can offer wise, Spirit-led counsel. Whether it is a spiritual mentor or a skilled professional, take one practical step: schedule a conversation, seek advice, make a small investment in your own growth.

Prayer: Lord, today I acknowledge that I am not called to build this vision alone. Teach me to open my heart to the guidance of those You have placed on my path to help me grow. Give me discernment to recognize faithful mentors, and humility to receive wisdom from those who are ahead of me. Amen.
