PURSUE GOD’S WISDOM AS YOUR GREATEST TREASURE
Proverbs 2:2-4 (NLT): "Tune your ears to wisdom and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and ask for understanding. Search for them as you would for silver; seek them like hidden treasures."
Mindful Minute: People talk about the wisdom embedded in the Bible. They trust biblical wisdom yet have no faith in God. Why wouldn’t we want to follow the One who provides wisdom?
As humans, we have certainly become adept at following people without it. Why haven’t we focused on the Bible more since it gives us such great wisdom and insight? During these 30 days, we are training ourselves to spend more time in God’s Word, reflecting on the wisdom of our Heavenly Father. We begin to understand, see, and document how we ignored His loving instruction and took matters into our own hands. We will realize the consequences of discounting the most powerful wisdom we could have ever comprehended.
These verses urge us to seek wisdom as earnestly as we would search for silver or hidden treasures. Can you imagine if we seek wisdom the same way we would seek financial success? Can you imagine seeking wisdom as if you were on a real-life treasure hunt?
Let us cling to God’s Word on a daily basis to know and experience the wisdom our Heavenly Father gives, to live our best lives, and to be free of the psychological slavery that has been created by stepping outside of biblical wisdom.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, I seek your wisdom. I want to walk with you daily, and even hourly, because I know I will experience temptation to walk away from you. I desire wisdom to make choices to live my most authentic life. I know your wisdom provides the best path for my life. I desire people to see your Spirit inside me as I begin to choose wisely and experience the results of that wisdom. Thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice on the cross so that I might live in freedom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
