Growing in Faith | Mini Devotions for Womenნიმუში

Break Down Your Tower
They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.”…Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”
Genesis 11:3-4, NIV
In the city of Babel, the people wanted to build something awesome. Their tower would show off their advanced technology, money, and power to everybody.
We all want the same thing, don’t we? It feels good when people say we’re smart, good-looking, talented, or successful. The problem is that winning the game, getting a promotion, or feeling popular with our friends can become too important. We try so hard to build ourselves up—just like that tower—that we forget how much we need God.
Let’s check our hearts today. Do we want praise and attention for ourselves, or do we want to bring God glory? Are we working hard on our own, or are we depending on God for help? Who is the builder of our lives today?
