DAY 34 OF 42

Giving as Worship

Have you ever thought about what worship really means? It goes way beyond just the songs we sing or the prayers we recite. One big part of worship is honour. Think about it: when you want to celebrate your best friend, you don’t just give them a card. You choose a thoughtful gift that shows how much they truly mean to you. A simple card wouldn’t cut it; you want to give them the most elaborate gift that reflects their importance in your life. You want the gift to truly express the depth of your appreciation and love.

In the same way, we show God honour by offering our lives to Him. Paul talks about this in Romans 12:1, where he says we should present our bodies as a living sacrifice. That’s what real worship looks like. Just giving a small portion of our income doesn’t really capture the significance of our relationship with God. It doesn’t reflect the greatness of the Creator who sent His only Son to save us from our sins. That’s why Paul emphasises that true worship involves dedicating our entire lives to God.

So, how important is your relationship with God? If it holds a significant place in your heart, how does that show in what you give? Take a moment to reflect on what you currently offer to God. Are there areas of your life where you might be holding back?

Paul sets a pretty high bar. We’re called to give our whole lives to God – our time, talents, resources, relationships, and dreams. Everything should be dedicated to Him, because that’s the true worth we owe our Creator.
