MORE THAN WORDS
Who Is Jesus? | Ken LaMont
Matthew 7:24 -
How have Jesus words changed you?
THE PARABLE FO TWO BUILDERS (Matthew 7:24-27)
WHAT THESE BUILDERS HAVE IN COMMON:
BOTH _________________
24“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
BOTH _________________
BOTH _________________
25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.
HOW THESE BUILDERS WERE DIFFERENT:
DIFFERENT ___________________________
26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.
DIFFERENT ___________________________
DIFFERENT ___________________________
27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”

LIFE GROUP RESOURCES
LIFE GROUP DISCUSSION
DISCUSS: The pastor opened by asking, "After 16 weeks of hearing Jesus' words in the Sermon on the Mount, how have you changed?" Take a moment to honestly reflect. Share one specific way you've grown or one area where you're still struggling to apply what you've heard.
READ: Matthew 7:24-27. Both builders in the parable heard Jesus' words. Why do you think it's so easy to hear God's Word without putting it into practice? What barriers prevent you from moving from hearing to doing?
SHARE: On a scale of 1 – 10, how strong are your foundations of faith right now?
DISCUSS: Jesus contrasts building on rock versus sand. What does it look like practically to build your life on the "rock" of Christ? What are some examples of "sand" foundations that our culture encourages us to build on?
READ: James 1:22-25. How can we deceive ourselves? What does it mean to look in the mirror and forget what you looked like?
SHARE: The sermon reminded us that "everyone faces storms." What storms are you currently facing—or have you faced recently? How has your foundation in Christ (or lack thereof) been revealed through difficulty?
SHARE: Of all the teachings from the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7), what is ONE THING God is calling you to put into practice this week? Be specific. How will you do it?
