“Il Sermone sul Monte” è il titolo spesso dato ai capitoli 5-7 del Vangelo di Matteo. È un riassunto dell’insegnamento di Gesù. Sebbene gli altri Vangeli presentino alcuni passi simili in altri contesti, è probabile che Gesù abbia effettivamente pronunciato questo discorso in una sola occasione, ma che poi abbia ripetuto più volte gli stessi concetti anche in altre occasioni. Matthew Henry, il grande commentatore della Bibbia, dice che lo scopo del Sermone sul Monte “non è di riempirci la testa di nozioni, ma di guidare e regolare la nostra condotta”.
