1 Corinthians letter 8:6

This life is marked by a single choice: who or what will we center our lives around? This choice takes each of us down a path of decisions that shape who we are, what we feel, who or what we value, and what we will have accomplished at the end of our days. To center our lives around ourselves or the things of this world leads only to destruction.

La vita cristiana non è fatta solo di spiritualità individuale. Il Signore ci vuole attivi nella Sua opera, nella chiesa e nel mondo. Prendere in considerazione solo quelle parti che ci fanno comodo delle promesse del Signore, significherebbe non realizzare appieno la Sua volontà per noi e, alla fine, ciò metterebbe in pericolo proprio il nostro stesso stato spirituale. Impariamo a mettere l’impegno necessario per portare frutto, non solo per il bene degli altri, ma anche per il nostro stesso bene.

La cosa sorprendente e incoraggiante di questa lettera è che Paolo diagnostica le problematiche di un luogo e tempo a noi lontano, ma che assomigliano a molte delle problematiche che confrontano anche l’attuale generazione, e li analizza in modo concreto e diretto, offrendo una soluzione profondamente teologica, in totale contrasto col modo contemporaneo superficiale e incoerente di risolvere problematiche serie.
