Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, they must deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow me.

And I tell you that you are Peter. Upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not prevail against it.

I will give to you the keys of the Empire of Heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you release on earth will be released in heaven.”

For whoever desires to save their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.

For what does it benefit a human if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what can a human give in exchange for their soul?

He said to them, “But who do y’all say that I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus answered him, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my Father who is in heaven.
