DAY 27 OF 28

Day 27—Worship like a child

Devotional
Have you ever seen a child praise God and thought to yourself that they look quite cute? Psalm 8 (NIV) makes it clear that children’s praise is more than that—it’s a powerful weapon against the enemy! There is something pure and uncomplicated when a little child praises and worships God. It is so powerful, it will “silence the foe and the avenger.” When Jesus entered the temple courts, the children didn’t hold back; they shouted for all to hear. The chief priests and teachers of the law didn’t get it when they heard children shouting, “Hosanna to the son of David.” It caused them to be indignant: “Do you hear what these children are saying?” But Jesus replies by quoting Psalm 8 (NIV): “From the lips of children and infants, you Lord, have called forth your praise.” Children’s praise is powerful because it is something that God Himself has placed in them.

Prayer
Lord, take me back to that place where I can praise You without restraint, where I can worship You simply and freely like a child. Amen.

Application
Take some time to thank God that you are His child and He is your Father. Then sing the simple song of worship, “I love you Lord, and I lift my voice.”

About this Plan

Deeper in Worship

"Deeper In Worship" is a 28-day plan designed to help you grow in your love for God through a fuller understanding of why and how we worship. Worship is for God alone; it is deeply spiritual, often physical, and a journey into encountering the presence of God. The plan includes a daily Psalm and a New Testament passage. It finishes with a short devotional, a prayer, and a suggested application.
