The Unique Ministry of MotherhoodSýnishorn

One thing I like to repeat to all my children is this, "God must think that I am really special." When they ask why, I reply, "Because I get to be your mom." This isn't false confidence - it's truth rooted in God's sovereign design.
You are not an accident in your children's lives. God specifically chose you to be their mother. With all your strengths and weaknesses, your personality and quirks, your abilities and limitations - you are exactly what your children need.
Your mother-love is a powerful force in this world. The importance of who you are as a mom in your child's life is far more dependent on the relational connection you have with your child than on your strengths and weaknesses as a person. You sacrifice every day for your kids because you love them and want what is best for them.
Too many moms are daily battling thoughts of discouragement and feelings of failure that simply have no basis in reality. Whether it comes from ourselves, our culture and community, our in-laws, our own parents, or even well-intended friends—many of us moms constantly feel we are letting down our families.
Nothing positive comes from negative thinking. When you embrace the truth that you are special - chosen by God for this sacred work - you can parent from a place of confidence rather than condemnation.
Reflection Question: How can you replace the "bad-mom" voices in your head with the truth that God has chosen you for this role?
