Faith in Hard TimesSýnishorn

The power of faith
We all face storms and trials in life. Jesus warns of this in John 16:33 when He tells the disciples that in this world they will have trouble but to take heart because He has overcome the world. Both those promises, the promise of trouble in the world and the promise that He has overcome it, are for us. Jesus encourages us to have faith in Him and trust in Him because He has overcome death and nothing is impossible for Him to make right.
While it’s comforting to know that Jesus has overcome the world and can do anything, what does that look like for us when we’re facing a terrifying medical diagnosis, or a vicious legal or financial battle, or a season of heartbreak after heartbreak? How does faith help us? And how do we hold onto it when we’re standing in the ruins of our life? Having faith in Jesus is not a belief that there won’t be pain, heartbreak or suffering. No, it’s being certain that in the presence of pain, suffering or heartbreak, Jesus can fix it. Faith isn’t asking if God will move, but asking when. It’s the assurance that we’re not alone, because, as He promises in Isaiah 41:10, He is with us. Even now, He is with us, interceding for us, pouring out His peace and love, and fighting battles we cannot see.
Faith in Jesus and His power is our anchor in hard times. It’s what gives us hope for the future. It’s what sustains our soul and helps us keep going. Whatever season you may be facing, I pray that you would cling to Jesus, knowing that He loves you and you are not in this season alone.
