When It Feels Like Something Is MissingSýnishorn

Day 3: Finding Home
Over the last few days, we've considered what it means to manage the tensions we hold between the longings we have for the future and our lived realities, as well as the idea that our longings have more to do with understanding who God is and what he wants for us. As we conclude today, let's consider what it means to live into the future with a new insight into what God is shaping our future towards.
If you delve deep into the scriptures, you'll find that God makes numerous promises to his people. While following God doesn't ensure a trouble-free life or the fulfillment of every dream, God's promises are a testament to his desire for us to seek more of him. His presence is the only source of true fulfillment, peace, and home, offering a secure refuge amid life's uncertainties.
Consider Matthew 11, perhaps one of the most famous passages about the rest and peace of following God. Jesus says, "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." A yoke is used to help guide an animal in a specific direction. In this passage, Jesus gently reminds his followers that those who allow God to guide their future will find the rest their souls long for.
Home, our souls yearn for, and Jesus understands this longing better than anyone. It's the comforting presence of God and the promise of a future inseparable from Him that truly fulfills our longings. This assurance guarantees the belonging, peace, and rest we are striving for in our futures. As you step into your future, may you do so with confidence, knowing that God is always working to draw you closer to Himself, like a breeze guiding you to your true home.
