Characteristics of a God-Inspired BusinessSýnishorn

Today, we’re beginning a 3 day devotional on the five characteristics of a God-inspired business. A God-inspired business is one that originates from God Himself—not something we simply dreamed up through our own ambition or logic. It’s a vision that God has placed in your spirit, and you know He has called you to build it. Let’s begin by exploring the first two characteristics of a God-inspired business.
1. It Glorifies God in Its Operation
1 Corinthians 10:31 says, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."
What we’re learning from this verse is that whatever we do—including business—we should do it to the glory of God. Now, that’s a fancy phrase—“glory of God” or “glorifies God”—but what does it actually mean?
If we look up the word glory, it means to describe or represent as admirable. So, your business should describe or represent God. When someone looks at your business, it should reflect the heart and character of God.
If God has called you to business, that business should feel like God and represent who He is. That means you’re not going to lie, cheat, or be deceptive. You’re going to be honorable. You’re going to walk in integrity. Your business will be a good witness of God’s character. Not perfect—but a good witness.
2. It Brings Value to Customers
Proverbs 11:26 says, "People curse those who hoard their grain, but they bless the one who sells in time of need."
This means that when someone has a need and you have a product that meets that need or desire, you are a blessing to them. The verse says people will bless you—meaning they’ll gladly pay you for your product or service because it brings them so much value.
A God-inspired business brings real value to customers. They’re going to be so appreciative of what you offer that they’ll be happy to pay you. You don’t have to worry about lowering your prices or convincing people to buy. People pay for value. Think about your own life—there are things you’ve bought that you were happy to pay for because it brought you value. A God-inspired business does that for others.
Prayer
Father, Thank You for the vision and calling You’ve placed within me. Help me to build a business that glorifies You in every area—from how I serve others to how I conduct my operations. Teach me to reflect Your character in all that I do. Give me wisdom to create real value that blesses others and meets their needs. Let my business be a light that points people to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

About this Plan

The business God has placed in your heart is not meant to look or operate like a worldly business. I believe it should reflect five key characteristics that distinguish it as a God-inspired venture. In this devotional, we’ll explore each of these defining traits.
