God Is Forgiving
The following verses and commentary were submitted by Lightgliders “Amber Awesome Artist” and “Grace Cupcake Superstar!”
As one of our key verses for today points out, we have all sinned. We all fall short of God’s glorious goodness. And while God is kind and loving, like we discussed yesterday, it is important to recognize our brokenness and need for forgiveness.
God does not leave us in a state of sin and brokenness. He wants to forgive our sin and heal us completely. And that is why He sent His Son. Jesus paid for our sins at the cross and defeated death, so that we could live fully restored in the love of God.
Just as we see God’s love throughout Scripture, we also see His forgiveness, and how we are to follow His lead in forgiving others:
Matthew 6:14-15 tells us that because we have been forgiven, we need to be willing to forgive.
Matthew 18:21-35 shares a parable about how serious God is about forgiveness.
Daniel 9:9 reminds us that God has been forgiving since the beginning! Before Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, God was in the business of being merciful and forgiving!
Romans 3:23-24 and 10:9 remind us that God’s ultimate goal is to forgive us and love us back into Himself. We must simply open our mouths and confess that we believe.
Here are some things to do and think about today:
- When have you needed to ask for forgiveness from God?
- When have you needed to ask for forgiveness from others?
- Has there been a time when someone asked you to forgive them? Was it difficult to do so? Why or why not?
About this Plan

Though God is incomprehensible, he is not unknowable. He reveals himself in three ways: • Through creation, from which his power and divine nature are on display (Romans 1:19-20) • Through the Scriptures, which he inspired to help us. (II Timothy 3:16-17) • Through Jesus Christ, who is the perfect revelation of his character (Hebrews 1:1-3) Kids known as Lightgliders submitted the following ways God has revealed himself to them.
