Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus

DAY 20 OF 21

Can you believe we are in the last but one day of our pilgrimage? Do you remember how we started in chapter one, where John introduced us to Jesus?

When the first two people wanted to find out where He stayed, He invited them: “Come and see!” They went, and saw, and followed Him as a Rabbi. Then they called their brothers and friends: “We have found the One, come and see!” Twelve men journeyed with Jesus for three years, accompanied by a few women who followed Jesus and served Him with their means. They witnessed signs and miracles, healings and teachings, His laughter and tears, prayer and proclamation of the Kingdom. They didn’t expect that one day, Jesus would be taken from them, put to death through crucifixion, and laid in a tomb. That was when all their hopes died. The women were crying. The men couldn’t speak. It looked like this was the end. Sometimes, it feels like this is the end in our own journeys. But it is not!

Our God is alive. Our God defeated the grave. Our God asks us as He asked Mary: “Why are you crying? Who are you looking for (in the grave where the dead are)? Go and tell My brothers instead!”

Mary Magdalene went to the disciples and told the news: “I have seen the Lord!”

Resurrection, not death, is the end of our story. Life eternal with God, not unending suffering, is our destiny. By faith, we shall rejoice. And, until He comes, we shall go and tell.

Remember the moment you were called to come and see? What have you witnessed along your faith journey? When and how have you experienced the power of resurrection? To whom is He sending you to go and tell? Ask Jesus: ”What do You have in Your Word for me today?” Listen and pray.

INTERCESSION: "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of age." (Matthew 28:18-20)

PRAYER:

  • Pray for Christians all over the globe to understand the authority of Jesus Christ in heaven and on earth.
  • Pray for boldness and strength to make disciples of all nations.
  • Pray for a sense of urgency to fulfill the Great Commission as the end of age is getting near.
  • One more time pray for the people on your list.
  • One more time pray for the miracles on your list.

About this Plan

Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus

The Gospel of John will be our focus for the next 21 days, one chapter at a time. We will carefully explore his words, discovering all we can about Jesus. We will dig deeper to understand the signs and miracles that could only be performed by the Son of God, the One Who came from above.
