Still Before God

DAY 5 OF 6

FAITHFUL FATHER

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."—Matthew 11:28–30 (NIV)

It’s often in the quiet moments that I most clearly see His faithfulness. The world around us hums with a constant rhythm of noise and busyness, but it’s in the stillness that I hear God’s invitation. And His invitation is often simple: come—come with your tiredness, come with your burdens, come with all you’ve been carrying that has weighed you down.

The beauty of this invitation is that it’s not just a call to show up—it’s a call to release. Jesus isn’t just offering rest; He’s inviting us to let go of the weight we’ve been carrying. Sometimes, we hold on so tightly to fear, worry, or even expectations we forget we weren’t meant to carry at all. He’s faithful to take it from us and replace it with rest.

Reflect on your own story for just a moment, and ask the Holy Spirit to show you the places where God's faithfulness has woven itself into the fabric of your journey and where you’ve experienced rest because of it. Faithfulness isn’t just something God does, it’s a reflection of who He is. We see it all over our story if we take the time to look.

We often miss the quiet, steady faithfulness of God because we’re too focused on the loud moments of life, or we’re looking for the “mountain top” moments with God. Sometimes, it’s in the mundane, the seemingly insignificant day-to-day moments that are drenched in His faithfulness—the way the food on your plate nourishes you, grown from the soil He formed and the rain He sent. It’s the friend who texts you at just the right time, or the song that stirs something holy in your chest. A full fridge, clean sheets, the safety of a locked door at night—small things that often go unnoticed, but are all gifts from a faithful Father and bring a sense of rest.

As you listen to this original song, “Faithful Father,” continue to practice releasing your thoughts and pressures to Him and continue receiving His rest!

Pause: Today, pause and hear His invitation to come, and thank Him for the rest His faithfulness brings to you. Release the burdens you’ve been holding onto—whether they’re fears about the future, regrets from the past, or pressures of the present. Jesus offers His yoke, and it’s easy. His burden is light because He doesn’t place anything ill fitting on us. You don’t have to look far to find His faithfulness—it’s in the air you’re breathing, the people you love, and the peace you didn’t think you could feel.

Practice: Take a moment to repeat out loud, “Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light.” Release what He hasn't asked you to carry, and receive His rest.

Pray: Father, thank You for the quiet ways You show up. You remind me that I’m cared for—not just in the big, miraculous moments, but in the slow, faithful rhythm of everyday grace. I breathe in Your goodness and exhale the weight I’ve been carrying. You’re my rest—today and always. Help me notice You in the ordinary and trust You in the unseen. Let these quiet reminders of Your love settle me and bring gratitude to my heart. Amen.

"Faithful Father" Lyrics

Verse

Where can I go from your presence?

Where can I hide from your love?

There’s no place you wouldn’t come find me

From valleys to mountains above

Prechorus

You guide me wherever I go like a beacon of light

Chorus

You are a faithful Father

You are an ever present friend

You are a loving God

You are the living water

With You I’ll never thirst again

Your love is like no other

Cause you’re a faithful father

Verse

Where can I run when I’m broken?

When heartache and pain steal my mind

I’ve searched for the waters to fill me

When one drink from you satisfies

Bridge

No height no depth

Could stand against

Your love for me, your love for me
