The Tree Life Chose Me

DAY 5 OF 5

Day 5: Grow, Multiply and Leave a Legacy
This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. John 15:8

A tree does not just grow, it multiplies. Scientifically, trees reproduce through seeds, which are carried by wind, animals, or people. One tree can produce thousands of seeds in its lifetime, many of which will take root and grow into new trees. That is the power of multiplication. One tree can become a forest. Jesus said in John 15:8 that bearing “much fruit” is how we glorify the Father and prove that we are His disciples. Fruit is not limited to just personal growth; it is about multiplying our impact and advancing God’s kingdom. As believers, we are called to disciple others and share the gospel. Jesus did not keep His disciples in a classroom for three years. He trained them as they served, teaching them through firsthand, real-life ministry. The command for you is to Go and multiply the message of Jesus in every season of life whether in your family, a classroom, a workplace, or through social media. It is not just a pastor’s job to share about God, it is yours too. Where you are currently in life, is your pulpit. In a world obsessed with gaining more followers, Christians are called to create more disciples. The command in Mat 28:19 is clear: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” This means that our mission is not just to attract people to our lives, churches, organizations, or ministries, but to lead them to Jesus and help them follow Him diligently. The goal is not popularity, it is spiritual legacy.

Here is a beautiful image: when you cut open the trunk of a tree, you will see rings inside. By counting these rings, scientists can determine the tree’s age. But even more, the size and appearance of the rings tell the story of each year. Thicker rings. mean the tree had a healthy, favourable growing season like plenty of rain or sunlight. Thinner or uneven rings show tough years, drought, disease, or cold. Some rings may show fire scars or insect damage, marking seasons of struggle. All of these rings combined tell a life story of that tree. Spiritually for believers, imagine those rings as being the record of your journey with God. The thicker rings represent seasons where your faith was strong, your spirit was refreshed, and you helped disciple, encourage, and serve others. The thinner rings remind us of the challenging times when you felt under attack yet still stood firm. And even those scars are the hurts that you overcame by God’s grace. Like a ring in a tree; every season in your life tells a story which adds to your testimony. The deeper your roots in Christ are, the more your life will tell a powerful story of growth, endurance, and impact.

Reflection: What kind of spiritual legacy am I leaving behind? Am I multiplying my faith by pouring into others or simply growing for myself?

Prayer: Lord, help me live in a way that leaves a spiritual legacy, one that leads others to follow You. Use every season of my life, both the highs and the lows, to bring glory to Your name. Amen.

About this Plan

The Tree Life Chose Me

All throughout the Bible, God uses the image of trees to teach deep spiritual truths. Trees are God’s amazing creations. They provide fruits, shade, and clean the air. However, beyond being used as a resource, trees reflect something greater: the life of a believer. We did not choose to be like trees, God designed us that way, to live rooted, fruitful, and unshakable lives in Him.
