Pray, Lament, Worship and Repent With Psalm 25

DAY 4 OF 7

Do you enjoy road trips? Jenny and I love them, and our favourite road trip is from Mumbai to Goa. We love exploring new places and trying local cuisine on the way.

The journey is almost as much fun as the time spent at the destination, except for one main annoyance: the poor road conditions in some areas. Potholes and road cracks damage the car and make the drive less comfortable.

If only we could figure out a route with exclusively smooth roads, that would be a dream!

The same applies to our “walk of life”; our journeys can feel bumpy, uncertain, or rough. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could look ahead and choose only straight paths?

Unfortunately, until we reach heaven–where roads are smooth and paved with gold (Revelations 21:21) –here on earth, we will have to travel bumpy roads (John16:33).

Even though God's paths aren’t always smooth, David teaches us that they are filled with faithfulness and truth.

The Lord is good and upright; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in justice, And He teaches the humble His way. All the paths of the Lord are faithfulness and truth to those who comply with His covenant and His testimonies. For the sake of Your name, Lord, Forgive my wrongdoing, for it is great. Who is the person who fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way he should choose. His soul will dwell in prosperity, And his descendants will inherit the land. The secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him, And He will make them know His covenant. – Psalm 25:8-14

Walking the faith walk with God and trusting in His guidance does not guarantee paved paths all the way, but you can rest assured that God will meet you with His truth and faithfulness every step of the way to smoothen the obstacles you will inevitably face (Isaiah 45:2).

What obstacles are you facing in your life? Ask God to show you His truth and faithfulness on the journey.

I encourage you to pray Psalm 25 over yourself and your family every day this week. What I do is add the name of our family in the final verse so it reads, “Deliver the Mendes family, O God, from all our distress!” You can do the same for yourself or your family.

Hey! You are a Chamatkar
