Unto Jesus: Serving With Love and Purpose

DAY 3 OF 4

Day 3: Love in Action

Have you ever wondered what it really means to serve Jesus? In Matthew 25:35–36, Jesus gives us a clear answer:

“For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.”

Jesus connects faith with action, showing us that every act of kindness — whether feeding the hungry, welcoming a stranger or caring for the sick — is ultimately done unto Jesus. Serving others isn’t about grand gestures — it’s about simple, consistent expressions of love that reflect God’s heart.

For Gerald, this truth is deeply personal. Growing up in poverty and abandonment in Santo Domingo, he knew hunger and loneliness firsthand. But through Compassion International’s child development program, his sponsors — whom he had never met — became a source of hope. Their love and generosity gave him the confidence to dream beyond his circumstances.

With perseverance and faith. Gerald earned a business degree, certifications in Christian leadership and paralegal studies, and is the CEO of multiple businesses. Now, as a husband and father, he continues to serve his community and share the same hope he once received.

Today, Jesus invites us to do the same. Who in your life needs compassion? Maybe it’s a struggling friend, a lonely neighbor or someone longing to be seen. Every small act of love carries eternal significance.

Prayer:

Lord, open my eyes to see the needs around me. Help me serve with compassion and humility, reflecting your love in my daily actions. May even the smallest gestures point people to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
