Day 2: Hugging God
"Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him" (Romans 12:2, MSG).
I believe my wife is one of the best huggers on earth. Her hugs express love, affection, and a deep sense of comfort and safety. There’s something about a hug that makes you feel like everything is going to be okay. But not all hugs are the same.
There’s the:
- “Hey pal” hug – A one-arm handshake with a pat on the back (if you received this at the end of a date, you may have just been friend-zoned).
- “Size-you-up” hug – Often used by men, this hug looks friendly but is actually an unspoken assessment of strength.
- Bear hug – A full, heartfelt embrace that expresses deep love, longing, and joy.
When it comes to embracing what God has done for us, we don’t always embrace it fully. Sometimes, we hesitate. Maybe we give God an awkward, half-hearted hug—unsure whether we deserve His Love. Other times, we think we have to earn it first. But Paul reminds us that the best thing we can do for God is to embrace all He has already done for us.
God’s Grace is freely given, not something we have to work for. Imagine hugging someone, and they stand there stiff, uncertain if they should hug you back. That’s how we sometimes respond to God’s Grace. But He wants us to lean in—to embrace Him fully, knowing we are completely loved and accepted.
Today, let go of any hesitation. Stop striving to earn God’s Love and simply receive it. Wrap yourself in His Goodness, Mercy, and Grace—just like a warm, reassuring hug.
PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, I pray that I may fully embrace all You’ve done for me. Help me receive Your Love without hesitation. Thank You for Your endless Grace and Mercy. Amen.
