Psalm 23: Still Waters & the Shepherd's TaleSýnishorn

Alright, I’m about to say something that might sound a little unchristian. Ready?
Here it is: I get a little joy when I’m elevated in front of my haters.
Now, don’t get me wrong—I’m not out here gloating or rubbing it in their faces. But when someone has been running their mouth, doubting me, or making life harder than it needs to be… and then I win? Or I get promoted?
Yeah, I feel a little vindicated.
Am I the only one? Maybe I need to work on my humility a bit!
But there’s something about being elevated in the presence of enemies. And it’s about more than just personal promotion. When God prepares a table before you in front of your enemies, it’s not just about you—it’s about Him.
It’s a display of His power, His favor, His faithfulness. When you trust God as your Shepherd, He elevates you—not to feed your ego, but to show others that His children are covered, protected, and blessed.
Now, here’s what really gets my attention.
Enemies love to assert dominance. They’ll sit at their own tables, flaunting what they have, making sure you see them. They might even look over at you, laughing, pointing, whispering about how “little” you have.
But then—right in the middle of it all—a well-dressed Shepherd walks in.
He doesn’t come empty-handed. No, He arrives with the most exquisite feast imaginable. He lays it out in front of you—dish after dish, blessing after blessing. And while your enemies watch in stunned silence, something else starts happening…
Their table? It starts to shrink. But yours? It just keeps growing.
And as the feast continues, the Shepherd doesn’t stop there. He anoints your head, pouring oil over you—a symbol of healing, refreshment, favor. And while your enemies struggle to process what’s happening, your cup is filled to overflowing.
Can you picture it?
Can you see yourself at that table? And more than anything—can you bask in the gratitude of knowing that your elevation isn’t just about proving people wrong?
It’s about proving that God is right.
