God is the author of life. As King Solomon's life is coming to an end, he realizes exactly this. But here, Paul gives us a unique perspective. While in the heart of Greece, Paul ends up getting into a debate with some of the philosophers about the so-called "gods" of their day. His argument is simple: What kind of God has to be made by us? The Greek gods Paul was arguing against were made to be like people by people. They looked like them, treated people like them. How different must the biblical God have been to their ears? A God who makes people, not one made by people. A God who gives perspective to people, not one who needs us to give him perspective.
