God Speaks

DAY 4 OF 7

Healing will look different for each of us. Perhaps some of us are believing for healing from sickness, healing in a broken marriage, healing in a relationship, healing in our kids, businesses, or finances. Others may be believing for healing in their hearts, mind, and emotions. Whatever you are believing for today, God can do it. He can do all things. Are we faithfully declaring the promises of God in Jesus' name? Or are our prayers riddled with doubt? Growing up, I was taught to pray about everything. As a young girl, I prayed for my Dad’s health and declared, ‘Devil, get out of my Daddy now!’ He instantly felt better. As a child, I had no preconceived ideas, I didn’t doubt God’s ability, I believed He would heal my Dad. As I look back on this experience, I can’t help but wonder how my faith in God’s healing power has changed. Since that time I’ve seen believer’s cancer disappear, miraculous healing taking place, and broken relationships restored. But, I’ve also seen good, Christian people die of disease and killed in car accidents. I’ve seen a mother with a newborn child, declaring in full faith that God would raise her husband from the dead, but she did not receive this answer to prayer. The Bible instructs us to pray, but we also know from scripture that healing is not a guarantee. King David fasted and prayed for seven days for God to spare his dying child, and when He didn’t, David got up and worshipped God anyway. We know our God can heal, but how do we keep believing in it, when it isn’t guaranteed? In this fallen, broken world, death is inevitable, sin is inevitable, pain and suffering are inevitable. Though we don’t know God’s ultimate will, we do know His character is good, and we need to stand firm on His promises. He loves us, He hears our prayers, He knows us intimately, and He knows what we need before we ask. God promises to work all things together for good for those who love Him. He will redeem what the enemy meant for our harm. Though terrible things can happen beyond our control or understanding, one thing never changes, and that is the goodness of God. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Let’s stand firm on His word and His promises. Let’s continue to believe for a healing miracle in our lives. Though things may not always go to our plan, God will right all wrongs. Let our heart’s desire be, ‘Lord, nevertheless, let Your will be done.’ Prayer: Dear God, thank You that You turn all things to good, for those who love You. Thank You that You are a miracle-working God and that You always have our best interests at heart. Lord, we ask that You would encourage us to lean into Your promises. God, our heart's desire is for Your will to be done. Thank You that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. In Your name we pray, Amen.
