UNSUNG HERO Bible Reading Plan

Day 1 - TRUSTING IN GOD'S PROVISION It’s easy to trust in God’s provision when things are going well. It’s a different story when things are not . At the beginning of UNSUNG HERO, concert promoter David Smallbone has just lost everything. After one Australian tour didn’t go so well, David found himself losing his work and his house, just as his wife Helen shared that she was expecting their seventh child. There’s no great time to lose everything—but this was definitely not a great time. Feeling like a failure, but with hope for the future, David moved his whole family away from their roots in Australia, following the promise of a new job in Nashville, Tennessee. All he knew was music, so he followed the music industry. But as soon as they arrived in America, that job fell through, too. The family found themselves sleeping on the floor in an empty rental house with nothing but each other. One by one, earthly things were stripped away—success, money, security—leaving David with only his family and his faith. Where the world may see failure, though, God sees opportunity for us to be dependent on his provision. REFLECTION QUESTIONS * Has there been a time when you felt like things of this world were stripped away? How did that deepen your faith? * What does it mean to you to store up treasure in heaven? * The world may tell us to work harder, keep running, strive after wealth, success, worldly gain. What do you think Proverbs 3:4 has to say about this?
