Transformed by His Promises

JOU 2 SOU 30

RENEW YOUR MIND TO DISCOVER GOD’S GOOD AND PERFECT WILL

Romans 12:2 (ESV): "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Mindful Minute: As we enter day two of this challenge and commitment, what awaits you moving forward is powerful.

Our unconscious habit loop was created by our Heavenly Father to make our lives easier. However, when we allow the repeated practice of sin, we also allow the habit loop to take control of our lives. In the Garden of Eden, God gave Adam and Eve wisdom and His loving instruction. He told them they had the freedom to choose anything except the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. God warned them of the harm they would suffer if they chose to eat of this tree; they would die. Adam and Eve started rationalizing reasons why it would be okay if they disobeyed.

Today, the reason we are focusing on this 30-day challenge is that, much like Adam and Eve, we justified a choice in the past that conformed to this world and created new neural networks and patterns. As a result, a habit loop developed that consumes an enormous amount of time, energy, and focus as our conscious thinking conflicts with our unconscious operating system.

By allowing ourselves to redirect this life-interfering behavior to something new and good, we give ourselves the ultimate gift of freeing up that time in favor of discernment about what is good and acceptable moving forward.

Prayer: Father, I pray today for transformation in my thinking that will allow me to have a clearer focus on Your Word and instruction. I desire my thoughts to be occupied by something other than this habit that consumes my time, energy, and focus. I need your strength, Father, because of the psychological slavery this habit has created. I lost the spiritual battle through my choices, but I look forward to the freedom that can only be created in you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
