There are so many different books out there that can help you learn how to lead and teach you new skills. Yet, it's knowing God’s words through Scripture that gives us the real manual on how to lead and influence those around us.

In Psalm 119:9–18, the writer tells us how keeping God's words in our hearts helps us stay on the right path and make the right choices as God leads us to a fuller life. When we spend time in Scripture, we are better equipped to lead, make the right choices, and stay hopeful in the face of the challenges that everyone experiences in life.

It isn’t always easy, though. Sometimes we will struggle with what to do and won’t be sure how turning to God for guidance would help us in each situation. But, by spending consistent time with God’s words, talking with people that help us understand what we hear, we grow in our ability to lead others using Scripture as a guide.

This week, take time to read God’s words, think about how they apply to your life, and challenge yourself to put them into action. This could look like journaling through a verse, or maybe you can even memorize a verse or two that speaks to you. Talk with someone you trust about what habits they have to get to know God’s words better.
