"War"

You are living in a war zone. You are in the middle of a battle. Right now. But it’s very likely that you’ve forgotten. Chances are, you’re probably sitting in the midst of this raging battle without any recognition that it’s even taking place. 

Today you will read three passages in which Paul describes the Christian life as a war. It’s a war to stand with Jesus in the midst of a world that rejects Him, a war against the demonic, and a war to keep moving on our God-given mission. The war is here. It’s now. And yet Paul has to remind us that it’s happening at all! 

So many Christian couples tiptoe through life, seeking fleeting forms of happiness, pursuing unattainable standards of “success,” and trying to build happy families. But all the while, the real battle continues. The longer we remain fixated on our own pursuits, the more we squander time and energy that could be devoted to God’s mission.
